Abstract P16: Autologous Fat Grafting to the Breast: A Review of Safety and Oncological Outcomes

چکیده
PURPOSE: The ideal monitoring tool to evaluate free flap success should be minimally invasive, continuous, costeffective and reliable. Our group has previously introduced implantable oxygen sensors as a mean to monitor flaps in the immediate post-operative period and detect acute vascular compromise. The purpose of the current study was to compare and contrast intradermal vs. subcutaneous implantation of the sensors in their ability to detect flap compromise.

Abstract: Determining the Oncologic Safety of Autologous Fat Grafting as a Reconstructive Modality: an Institutional Review of Breast Cancer Recurrence Rates and Surgical Outcomes
BACKGROUND The increasing use of autologous fat grafting in breast cancer patients has raised concerns regarding its oncologic safety. This study evaluated patient outcomes and tumor recurrence following mastectomy reconstruction and autologous fat grafting. METHODS Retrospective chart review identified patients who underwent mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction from 2010 to 2015. Eig...
متن کاملOncological safety of autologous fat grafting after breast conservative treatment: a prospective evaluation.
Autologous fat graft to the breast is a useful tool to correct defects after breast conservative treatment (BCT). Although this procedure gains popularity, little is known about the interaction between the fat graft and the prior oncological environment. Evidences of safety of this procedure in healthy breast and after post-mastectomy reconstruction exist. However, there is paucity of data amon...

Autologous fat transfer offers many qualities of a ideal soft tissue filler. Main advantages of fat grafting ensue from the fact that the lipoaspirate tissue is an abundant source of regenerative pluripotential cells. However, the reported rates of fat cell survival vary greatly in the medical literature (10-90%). Different techniques of harvesting, processing, and reinjecting the fat cells are...
متن کاملA case controlled study of the oncological safety of fat grafting.
: Currently there is no clinical evidence of oncological risk associated with fat grafting (FG) although its safety has been questioned based on in vitro and in vivo research. This case-controlled study was designed to investigate the risk of relapse associated with fat grafting in women with a breast cancer history. METHODS: Of 328 women with previously treated malignant breast disease who u...

PSRC Abstract Supplement P oter P rofs breast, receiving 97.2 mL of autologous adipose on average during each session. The most common indication for reconstruction in this study was found to be for aesthetic correction following mastectomy (90.6 % of patients). Fat grafting was most commonly used as an adjunctive therapy following initial implant (54.9% of patients) and flap (43.4% of patients...
